DIY: Citrus Garland
Dec 29, 2016 — by Rachelle Minyard
Want to make the prettiest, most amazing smelling, vibrant colored citrus garland? Well you're in luck, because we are going to show you a step by step how to! This process is super easy to do, but will take time and patience in the oven. The end result is so lovely and well worth the wait! Pick up some fresh citrus from your local store or farmers market, grab some twine, and lets get started!
What you will need:
-Citrus of choice
-Cookie sheet
-Twine
-A Sharp Knife
-Toothpick
-Eucalyptus (optional)
Step 1) Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Begin by cutting your citrus fruit into slices. You will want thin slices to ensure they dry out correctly, but thick enough to string your twine through without breaking the fruit.
Step 2) Lay your slices flat onto a cookie sheet. Dab excess juice with a paper towel to help the drying process.
Step 3) Place in the oven for up to six hours, flipping your fruit every hour or so.
Step 4) Remove from the oven when fruit is dry and all juice is evaporated. Let cool.
Time to sting them all together!
Step 5) Tie a knot to the end of a toothpick and connect your string to it. You will use this as a guide to go through your slices.
Step 6) Using your toothpick, begin to string on your slice by poking it though the middle
Step 7) *Optional: Add Eucalyptus to incorporate some greenery.
Step 8) Hang your new citrus garland anywhere you want and enjoy!
